Choosing a photographer. 1. Decide on your budget. This will be a good way to narrow down how many photographers you will choose from. 2. Decide what type of photos you want. Formal studio style, casual documentary style, action and sports, maternity and children, high school seniors, and corporate photography are just a few of the types that you will find. Some do a combination of these styles, but many photographers settle into a niche that works for them. You wouldn't hire a wedding photographer for a first birthday party! 3. Ask your friends who they use. Having a rapport with clients is not only useful, but critical in getting good images. Your friends will be honest about who they like, and why. 4. Look at portfolios online. Get a good feel for what each artist provides, and contact those that really resonate with what you want. 5. Interview a couple of photographers, and ask questions. Today, anyone can get a nice camera and print business cards, and the amount of photographers out there is overwhelming. Find out if you'll be receiving top notch customer service along with your photographs, and if the packages offered meet your needs. 6. After choosing and hiring a photographer, give them your feedback!
